Behind the Blog #2..

Welcome back to the 2nd edition of behind the blog and today we are meeting the lovely Chantal from Milk and Nappies.

Chantal was one of the mummy bloggers that I started talking to via the #mblogchat which used to run on twitter and we clicked straight away. She is so down to earth and lovely and her blog (which I read weekly!) is so beautifully designed, her pictures are always so pretty and I love that she writes about real stuff that I can really relate to.

So, I took sometime to find out a bit more about the Mummy behind the blog and this is how we got on:

What inspired you to start blogging?
I started blogging because I have read blogs for years and years and always wanted to write my own. I never knew what to write about so when I found out I was pregnant I decided that I would start documenting my journey and it began from there. I didn’t start writing properly until my son Zach was 6 weeks old, but I’m so glad I started when I did as I’ve been able to document most of his life and so many things I might have forgotten otherwise.

What has been the highlight of your blogging journey so far?

I think the biggest highlight so far has been when I was able to use my blog in a recent job interview to demonstrate my knowledge of websites and social media. I felt so proud to talk about my little corner of the internet and all of the things that I have learnt through blogging. I was successful and was offered the job, and I am so happy that this hobby of mine has helped me in my professional life as well as my personal one.

Out of all of your posts, which post would you say means the most to you?

I would say Zach’s birth story means the most to me because it is so raw and holds so many memories and emotions. It marks the beginning of our story as a family of three, and although I didn’t have the best experience it was worth every second because now I get to spend every day with the most perfect little boy.

What would you say is your favorite thing about blogging?

My favourite thing about blogging has definitely got to be the friends I have made. Being a parent can be quite lonely at times, especially as I don’t have that many mum friends in real life. Through blogging I’ve connected with so many other parents, and have found a little group of mums who are all so supportive of each other. I love being able to chat with people who I have so much in common with, and who inspire me on a daily basis!

Describe yourself in 5 words?

Lucky, happy, messy, honest & passionate.

Shhhhh...tell us a secret about yourself :)

I am very very messy and I hate cleaning and tidying although over the last few months I’ve been trying so hard to get better at it!

If you were off to a desert island, what three things would you take with you?
A solar powered kindle filled with every book in existence, a gadget that would make sea water drinkable and a fishing rod ;)

And finally, when you’re not blogging, what do you do in your spare time?
I’ll probably be with my friends and family. Both Jono and I are very social and we like to make lots of plans and see as many people as we can!

And there we have it. A little insight into the lovely lady behind Milk and Nappies.
